Trust-Based Parenting (legacy)

This class was developed with information from Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross from TCU Institute of Child Development. It teaches family based interventions designed for children who have experienced relationship-based traumas. Topics include, “Your Child’s Brain is Different”. “There is no quick fix”, “Your child’s sensory needs” and “Connecting through Play”.  It is considered to be an emerging intervention and is based on neuropsychological theory and research, and tempered by humanitarian principles.   Participants are encouraged to take the week’s topic home and work on that subject matter with children they have in their home.  Participant’s also work as a team building relationships amongst themselves to create a cohort that will work together even after the class is completed.  Schedule for the training currently underway:  9/21/2015 10/19/2015 11/23/2015 12/21/2015 1/18/2016 2/15/2016 3/21/2016 4/18/2016 5/16/2016 6/20/2016 7/18/2016  All dates are 6:30-8:30pm.  Trainer: Reneé Siers, MSW, siersr@uw.edu  Training begins at 6:30pm, but there will be a potluck starting at 6:00pm to feed your family.  Childcare is also being offered.  If you plan on bringing children please contact Maria Lail at 509-220-4453 or mklail@gmail and let her know the ages of your children.  First come first served.  Anyone who works with children that have experienced trauma and loss are welcome to come.  Relative caregivers, this is a great, fun way of working with the children in the home.
