Penny Michel - mpen300@uw.edu

Penny Michel is a Development and Facilitation Specialist at the Alliance.  She is member of a team who is responsible for development and facilitation of pre-licensing and continuing education trainings for licensed caregivers, kinship caregivers, adoptive parents and community members.

She began her career in early childhood education and transitioned into the human services field.  This experience provided an opportunity to work in positions as a licensor for childcare and foster care.  She came to the Alliance in 2014 and became a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner in 2019.

She received her Masters of Social Work (MSW) from UW-Seattle and completed the process to become and Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LISCW.)

Her ideal self-care consists of Forest Bathing with her Dog Nation while they get their zoomies out and traveling with overweight luggage to faraway places to swim with the fishes.

Stephanie Rodrigues - steph75@uw.edu

Stephanie Rodrigues is a member of the caregiver training team. She enjoys both developing curriculum for caregivers and delivering it in the classroom and online. The thing she loves most about working at the Alliance, is connecting with caregivers.

Stephanie joined the Alliance in 2015. After adding two children to her family through adoption, she left a career in genetic research to obtain her Masters of Social Work, graduating from the University of Washington in 2008. Following graduation Stephanie worked for seven years as a Children and Family Services, Social Worker, with Children’s Administration (now known as DCYF).

In 2019, Stephanie had the opportunity to become a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner. She is passionate about sharing TBRI with other caregivers.

Outside of work, Stephanie enjoy spending time with her spouse, children and grandchildren. Most recently this includes exploring the beautiful Northwest on her ebike.

July 17, 2023  -  5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
July 24, 2023  -  5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join us for this three session deeper dive into trauma-informed sensory strategies.

We are thrilled to offer you a special invitation to a deeper exploration of TBRI strategies with our new TBRI Book Club: "The Connected Therapist, Relating Through the Senses"

Please acquire the book, "The Connected Therapist" by Marti Smith, and read "The Hidden Senses" (Chapters 6 and 7) prior to the first discussion. The book can be found on Amazon and many local retailers.   It's also an audio book.

This book is based on Dr. Bruce Perry's work and Trust Based Relation Intervention (TBRI) and is a next-level skills building opportunity for caregivers.

During the facilitated discussion, the senses are explored in relation to how adverse experiences shape individual's preferences and sensory processing abilities.

The final section reveals resources and practical strategies to help select best practice sensory-based strategies to promote healing through activity for the children placed in your home.

6 hours of training credit will be awarded to those who complete all 3 sessions of the book club.

The day before the scheduled event, you will receive an email with the link to join the book club. This book club will be held on the zoom platform.

We look forward to having you join us!
