The Autism Basics: Behaviors and Coping Strategies for Caregivers

Training is designed specifically for foster parents, caregivers, and social workers. This comprehensive training aims to provide participants with valuable insights and practical strategies to support individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) throughout their developmental journey. Throughout the training, we will explore essential topics such as ASD diagnosis and characteristics from birth to adulthood. We will address attachment dynamics, transitions, sensory sensitivities, and emotional support strategies. Participants will gain insights into behavior as communication and learn trauma-informed and culturally responsive behavior management techniques. Participants will also gain an understanding of special education services and navigating IFSP/IEP meetings. Finally, we will discuss building a strong support team and preventing burnout and compassion fatigue. By the end of the training, participants will have valuable knowledge, practical strategies, and resources to support individuals with ASD effectively.
